Honors Calculus B
Honors Calculus is a college-level course designed for high achieving math students who plan to take the Advanced Placement Calculus Test, dual credit options, or just Calculus. The following topics will be covered in Honors Calculus A: Functions and Their Graphs, Limits and Continuity of Functions, the Derivative, and Applications of the Derivative. In Honors Calculus B, we will cover these topics: Newton’s Method and Related Rate Problems, Estimating Area with Reimann Sums, the Integral, and Applications of the Integral. In addition to these topics, we will also review other areas that are necessary for success in Calculus. Our focus for these topics will come from the College Board recommended curriculum for Advanced Placement Calculus and the University of Cincinnati mathematics department. The use of a calculator is prohibited unless specifically stated. At appropriate times, the TI-Nspire graphing calculator will be provided and used.
